Fine Gael says the Government needs to take a long, hard look at its decentralisation plan in light of a Labour Court ruling that significantly hamper the project.

The court has ruled that FAS cannot limit promotions to staff who are willing to move from Dublin to the agency's new base in Co Offaly.

Fine Gael deputy leader Richard Bruton says the judgement highlights the sad reality that the programme has not been properly planned and people are not volunteering to move.

He says the whole plan should be re-evaluated and any planned staff moves should be scrapped if necessary.
