Fans prepare journeys as GAA confirm fixtures

The much-anticipated clash of football powerhouses Kerry and Tyrone in the third round of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers will take place in Killarney next Saturday.

The glamour tie will be held at Fitzgerald Stadium (throw-in 5pm) where Kerry beat Cork to win the Munster title just over 12 months ago.

All four of the third-round qualifiers have been pencilled in for Saturday, with Tipperary and Antrim, who beat Wexford and Galway respectively in the last round, getting the action underway in Thurles at 3pm.

Carrick-on-Shannon's Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada is sure to be thronged when Leitrim try to upset the odds again as Laois come to town. Their encounter will start at 7pm.

There is also a 7pm throw-in time for the meeting of Kildare, the 3-20 to 1-9 conquerors of Cavan, and Limerick who came good in extra-time against Longford.

Portlaoise's O'Moore Park will be the venue for the Kildare-Limerick game as the Lilywhites' Newbridge home, St. Conleth's Park, has had its capacity cut to 4,000 for Championship games by health and safety officers.

Meanwhile, the two All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals have been set as a double header at Semple Stadium on Sunday week (July 29).

Cork, who beat Wexford at the Thurles venue over the weekend, will battle it out with Munster rivals Waterford in the curtain-raiser at 2pm.

Then, reigning All-Ireland champions Kilkenny will put their title on the line against an ever-improving Limerick side that has disposed of Laois, Antrim and Clare in recent weeks.
