The mass trial of more than 300 people has started in Libya - with all of them facing the death penalty.

The mass trial of more than 300 people has started in Libya - with all of them facing the death penalty.

They face 15 charges related to attacks against foreign workers last September which resulted in five deaths.

Their 50 defence lawyers asked for their immediate release. This was denied by prosecutors.

Most of the defendants are Libyan, although Nigerians, Sudanese, an Egyptian and one Tunisian also face charges.
