Fianna Fáil is today promising to make the social insurance system fairer if it is returned to power at the upcoming election.

At present, employees pay PRSI on the first €50,000 of their salary.

This means that a person earning €50,000 pays the same rate as somebody earning €250,000.

Minister for Finance Brian Cowen said today that Fianna Fáil would reform this system to make sure that those with more money pay more PRSI.
