A man hurt in an alleged assault in Dublin last night has died in hospital.
The 25-year-old was one of a number of people injured after a fight broke out outside a guesthouse on the Kennelsfort Road in Palmerstown at 3.45am this morning.
Another man was also taken to hospital in Blanchardstown following the incident, which is understood to have involved a large number of people.
Sources say the fight broke out after a number of people returned from a Traveller wedding and it is understood the deceased man was stabbed.
A man in his mid-30s who was detained at the scene is still being questioned at Ballyfermot Garda station.
A Garda forensic team has identified two areas of particular interest.
The first is a bloodied area just outside the guesthouse and the second is on a public footpath, where some blood soaked clothing was removed for testing.
It is understood this is where the man was fatally injured.
They have also carried out tests inside the B&B.
The condition of the second injured man is not known at this stage and Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was on the Kennelsfort Rd between 3.30am and 4am this morning or anyone with information to come forward.
