Gardaí in Sligo are investigating an arson attack that extensively damaged a house in the town this morning.

Gardaí in Sligo are investigating an arson attack that extensively damaged a house in the town this morning.

A number of people are believed to have broken into the house in Doorly Park at around 7am before setting it alight from inside.

Two adults and three children were inside at the time, but all managed to escape without injury.

A car parked outside the house was also burned out during the incident, which gardaí have described as "very serious".
