The son of the US political leader, Louis Farrakhan, has been shot in both legs.

The son of the US political leader, Louis Farrakhan, has been shot in both legs.

Joshua Farrakhan, 42, was visiting a friend at a house in Chicago when unidentified attackers entered the house, beat and then shot him.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Centre in nearby Oaklawn, Illinois.

A spokesman says he is undergoing treatment and will most likely be admitted.

According to reports, South Side Police Officer, Ozzie Rodriguez, said Mr Farrakhan had been shot in the right leg and the left thigh.

Police are investigating the incident but as yet no one has been arrested.

His father Louis, 67, is head of a religious group called the Nation of Islam and is currently battling against cancer.

Last month, he won his High Court battle against the UK Government who banned him from visiting the UK.

The Government argued that Mr Farrakhan's presence could lead to public disorder after apparently anti-Semitic remarks he has made in the past.
