Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Co Cork.

Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Co Cork.

John Heelam, in his sixties and from Berkeley Court in Cloyne, was stabbed at his home during an apparent break-in.

He received wounds to the throat and shoulder and died later in Cork University Hospital.

Gardai are continuing to question a man in his thirties about the incident.

The scene of the murder has been preserved pending technical examination
