One killed as British helicopter crashes in Kosovo
A British military helicopter with seven on board has crashed in Kosovo.
The helicopter went down near Kacanik, 30 miles south of Pristina, the Kosovo capital.
A KFOR spokesman said at least one of the seven people on board had died.
Major Axel Jandesek said: "There is no indication of any hostile action."
Nato officials said the British Puma went down around 2.45pm while flying above mountainous terrain in a border region with Macedonia.
Visibility was poor, in heavy rain and low cloud.
An British Ministry of Defence spokesman said he believed the KFOR helicopter was on a routine flight.
It may have been flying for a variety of reasons, including carrying personnel, re-supplying troops or carrying out aerial surveillance.
The spokesman said: "On any given day, tens if not hundreds of KFOR helicopters are flying around Kosovo."
He added: "We will not be releasing details of injuries or fatalities or the names of those on board until we have contacted their next of kin."
