Cat causes explosion at US embassy in Kabul
A huge explosion at the US embassy in the Afghan capital, Kabul is being blamed on a cat, according to embassy official, John Kincannon.
The wandering feline is believed to have triggered a warning device, known as a "flash-bang", at around 9.45pm last night.
The device is set up around the embassy’s perimeters to stop intruders.
An embassy official says the cat lived but was very frightened.
The incident raises the already high security concerns at the embassy as it surrounded by large open expanses.
Last week a homemade incendiary device was set off outside the embassy.
Marines who came out to investigate found a land mine nearby.
The mine was not concealed or attached to tripwires.
