George aim for Demon

Racing Demon could represent Henrietta Knight in the Stan James King George VI Chase if coming through some lesser tests first.

The six-year-old took high order among last season’s novice chasers and, on the back of recording three impressive victories between November and February, was sent off the 9-2 favourite for the Arkle at Cheltenham in March.

Despite finishing a disappointing seventh in that contest, Knight still holds her charge in high regard and feels he will prove himself high-class now he steps up in trip.

“We’re thrilled with him as he’s summered really well and he’s much stronger,” she told At The Races.

“He’s a fine horse now and I think he’ll really benefit from going three miles this season”

While husband Terry Biddlecombe believes Racing Demon could develop into a credible Gold Cup contender, Knight believes the King George could be his race with Kempton’s circuit sure to play to his strengths.

“I have it in my head that he is a better horse going right-handed but he did jump round Cheltenham on that left-handed track,” she admitted.

“There are some intermediate chases we will probably look at first and then, if he comes through those, we might go to the King George – it’s right-handed!”
