Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to hunt for two men involved in the shooting of a uniformed officer in the north of the city yesterday morning.

The 34-year-old motorcycle garda is recovering after being shot in the stomach when he stopped a car in the North Strand area.

The car was later found abandoned and is being forensically examined by technical experts.

The shooting has attracted widespread condemnation, with the Garda Representative Association describing it as cowardly, callous and despicable.
