Mary Harney has admitted that her role as Minister for Health may cost the PDs votes at the upcoming General Election.

Mary Harney has admitted that her role as Minister for Health may cost the PDs votes at the upcoming General Election.

Speaking in Dublin today, Ms Harney accepted that her decision to take the job might affect her party's electoral prospects.

Ms Harney has pushed forward a number of controversial measures during her tenure and has also attracted the ire of nurses over her refusal to consider pay-rise demands.

However, she said today that she did not regret taking on the job and was committed to changing the way the health system operates.
