The Rape Crisis Network is calling for the criminalisation of so called 'passive' forms of child abuse.

The Rape Crisis Network is calling for the criminalisation of so called 'passive' forms of child abuse.

It says actions, which do not involve forced contact, should be criminalised.

This is one of the proposals emerging from the Network's annual conference in Sligo.

It also wants a debate to be had on the laws concerning consent in rape cases and on the lack of knowledge Irish people have on sex, sexual health and sexual violence.
