Five hill walkers had to be rescued today after straying into a live army firing range in Wicklow

The group of three men and two women, who were experienced walkers, had started from the Glenmalure Youth Hostel.

It is believed that they became disorientated and wrongly descended towards the Glen of Imaal.

They were located using their smart phones and custom built mountain rescue GPS location software.
