Posh Spice Victoria Beckham punched England captain David Beckham in the face after newspaper reports that he had been unfaithful during her pregnancy, it was revealed today.

An extract from the singer’s autobiography, serialised in the Daily Mail newspaper, told how she ‘‘went berserk’’, hitting him so hard he was left with blood dripping down his chin.

The couple were so upset by the rows the claims caused between them that both considered suicide, the star said.

She said she was pregnant with their son Brooklyn, now two-and-a-half, when newspaper stories claimed David had kissed another girl while she was away on the Spiceworld tour.

The Manchester United player repeatedly told her the stories were false but Victoria said she ‘‘went straight up to him and just swung at him, punched him in the face’’.

She continued: ‘‘I hit him so hard I cut the inside of his mouth.

‘‘Even then, with blood dripping down his chin, I just felt angry and hurt.’’

Victoria said she felt like killing herself over the claims.

The pair took a holiday to Lake Como in Italy to work things out, where David became so upset he told her he felt like killing himself too, she said.

Eventually, Victoria said she realised how much they loved each other and they put the incident behind them.
