Elderly have 'real fear' over Budget

Older people are suffering from "real tension and fear" ahead of the Budget, according to Age Action Ireland.

The group said it has carried out a consultation of its members outlining the effects of austerity on the elderly.

The group will host its pre-budget submission in Dublin today and is calling on the Government to decide against changes to the old age pension or free travel allowance.

Age Action spokesperson, Eamon Timmins, said there is a real sense of anxiety about next month's Budget.
