The Progressive Democrats have submitted a radical plan aimed at reducing hospital waiting lists throughout Ireland.

The Progressive Democrats have submitted a radical plan aimed at reducing hospital waiting lists throughout Ireland.

Under the plan, anyone waiting for treatment in a public hospital for more than three months would be offered private patient status, with the state paying for consultants and hospital fees.

Patients would also be offered treatment in the North, England or further afield if necessary.
