David Beckham has fired a warning shot to France ahead of the opening Euro 2004 match on June 13.

Beckham says England have enough quality to get off to a flying start in the tournament.

He said: “The championships are in the players’ minds and the minds of the nation.

“The first game should be a great game as we are playing against one of the best teams in the world and some of the best players in the world.

“They don’t just have Zinedine Zidane but also Thierry Henry, who has been incredible.

“We respect their team. We respect their players but we have a lot of great players.”
