French authorities say the body found in a lake near Dieppe is that of Bunmi Shagaya.

The 11-year-old had been missing since Monday, when she disappeared during a swimming outing at her French summer camp outside the town of Cany-Barville.

Her body was found at the bottom of a lake near the area where she was last seen, police said.

Two police divers have waded out 20ft into the paddling area of the swimming pool and began taking photos of an area near a floating safety cordon.

Bunmi's family, including her mother, are expected to travel to the scene shortly.

At 9.35am local time, a senior police officer frantically called for divers to search the spot where Bunmi was last seen alive.

Frogmen set out immediately on an inflatable launch before 13 police vehicles also rushed to the scene.

Officers in black overalls could be seen standing on the shore while divers remained in the boat close to where police had been pointing. Waiting photographers and reporters were moved back from the scene.

It is four days since the 11-year-old from Lambeth, south London, went missing on her first school trip abroad.
