One hundred junior infants pupils in Co Meath have been left with no school as they prepare to start a new term next week, due to a crisis over accommodation in Laytown.

The erection of temporary prefabs for pupils at Scoil Oilibhear Naofa has been held up because of local planning objections.

Meath County Council has earmarked two other sites for prefabs to be installed.

Local Fine Gael TD Shane McEntee said today that compulsory purchase orders should be issued to the landowners if necessary to ensure the children have a school to go to.
