Horse racing: Soggy Folkestone abandoned

Waterlogging has forced the abandonment of tomorrow’s fixture at Folkestone.

Waterlogging has forced the abandonment of tomorrow’s fixture at Folkestone.

Officials at the track made the decision after an inspection this morning, as clerk of the course Chris Stickels explained.

‘‘We’ve had to abandon,’’ he said. ‘‘The course was waterlogged and unraceable yesterday and, although we only had another 2mm of rain overnight, there’s no chance really of it being fit to race in time.

Tomorrow’s card at Sedgefield has also been abandoned, leaving Tuesday’s only action on the all-weather at Southwell.
