Two thousand homes are still without power this afternoon after storms swept the country last night.

Two thousand homes are still without power this afternoon after storms swept the country last night.

Worst affected were in rural areas of the south west, midwest, south and the midlands.

ESB crews are still restoring power in the areas and are making good progress.

ESB spokesperson Michael Kelly says crews hope to restore power to the isolated areas by this evening.
