Talks are to take place at the Labour Relations Commission in an attempt to resolve a dispute over pay in the electrical contracting sector.

The LRC convened the talks for this afternoon in a bid to avert threatened strike action by over 10,000 electricians on Monday.

The Technical Engineering and Electrical union insists electricians are due an 11% pay increase while contractors are seeking a 10% pay cut.

High-profile construction projects such as the new terminal at Dublin Airport and the Lansdowne Road stadium project could be hit if the strike goes ahead.
