Carter named new Kilkenny captain

Charlie Carter is the new Kilkenny captain, named by his club and county champions, Young Irelands, to fill the role.

Charlie Carter is the new Kilkenny captain, named by his club and county champions, Young Irelands, to fill the role.

It's a big vote of confidence in the veteran forward after he was overlooked for the entire championship winning season.

Carter started just once and come off the bench twice in the whole of the championship, which ended in All-Ireland victory over Clare in September.

He takes over from Andy Comerford.
