Taoiseach Bertie Ahern says the Government is ensuring that the strictest measures are in place to prevent the foot and mouth virus entering the Republic.

He was speaking at Government Buildings following a meeting with the Swedish Prime Minister, Mr Goran Persson, as a tenth case of the disease is reported in Northumberland in England.
