A 28-year-old Donegal man has dramatically changed his plea in a rape trial before the Central Criminal Court.

Yesterday, the man denied raping and sexually assaulting the woman in Letterkenny in July 1998, but he changed that plea to guilty just minutes before the trial was due to start today.

He was remanded on bail until February, when evidence will be heard and a sentence will be handed down.
