Rachel Stevens has given birth to a baby girl.

The former-S Club 7 singer and husband Alex Bourne welcomed their first child, who they have named Amelie, into the world this morning and mother and baby are “doing really well”.

A statement read: “Rachel Stevens and Alex Bourne are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter Amelie. She arrived this morning at 2.05am; mother and baby are both doing really well.”

Rachel, 32, announced her pregnancy in May and said she was delighted at the prospect of becoming a mother.

She said: “We are thrilled and so excited about becoming parents.”

She has previously revealed she was very keen to start a family with Alex, although she was unsure what kind of mother she would be.

She said: “We'd absolutely love to have children. I think having children is the most amazing thing.

'I don't think I can tell what kind of mum I'd be until I go through it. It's such a life-changing thing. But I do have a little niece and nephew so I can just about change a nappy. Alex would be a great dad - he's very hands-on.”
