The Irish Road Haulage Association has called on the Government to implement a plan to deal with increasing fuel costs.

Petrol prices in Ireland have reached a record high in recent days due to soaring international oil prices.

The IRHA said it was seeking a meeting with the Ministers for Finance and Transport to discuss the matter.

It said the cost of fuel was putting further pressure on motorists and trucking firms who were already feeling the squeeze due to rising taxes and increased road tolls.
