Roy Keane has spoken of his relief at ending his bitter feud with Mick McCarthy.

Keane was sent home from the 2002 World Cup after a major row with the then Republic of Ireland manager.

The former Manchester United captain says the dispute is over after a recent telephone conversation between the pair.

“Last week he rang up about one or two of our players, we had a good chat and both agreed it's time to move on and we're both delighted with that”, Keane said today.

He added: “Life's too short to hold grudges.”
