This afternoon’s meeting at Fontwell will go ahead as scheduled after the track passed an 11am inspection.
After checking conditions this morning, clerk of the course Ed Arkell had been concerned that the chase track would not be fit to race following rain overnight.
He made provisions to run just their three hurdle races and a bumper but after checking conditions again, he is now happy for the card to go ahead in its entirety.
“The whole card goes ahead, which is great news,” said Arkell.
“We will be omitting the second fence down the hill but other than that, we’ll be jumping everything and all the chase races go ahead.
“Andrew Thornton and Dougie Costello have been out on the track and are happy to ride. (Trainer) Keith Goldsworthy, myself and the chief course inspector have all been out and we’re all happy to go ahead.”
