Live register set to surpass 200,000, Dáil told
The Dáil has been told that the live register is expected to surpass 200,000 when the figures for April are published on Friday.
A series of industrial closures around the country in recent weeks have pushed the unemployment figure up to a rate of over 5%.
Enterprise Minister Micheal Martin said the government's investment in science and research would help to create knowledge-driven opportunities in the years ahead.
