Murdered nun to be buried on Caribbean island

The funeral of 72- year - old Sister Theresa Egan is expected to take place on the island of Saint Lucia next Saturday.

The funeral of 72- year - old Sister Theresa Egan is expected to take place on the island of Saint Lucia next Saturday. Sister Theresa, who was originally from County Laois, was hacked to death by a man with a machete after mass at the Bascilica of the Immaculate Conception in the port town of Castries on Sunday morning.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack in which 13 people were set on fire. Monsignor Theophilus Joseph, who is the administrator at the cathedral says the community is still in shock that something like this could have happened in such a peaceful area.
