David Beckham has confirmed on his website that he is in discussions with AC Milan with a view to a short-term loan move to the San Siro.

However, the former England captain insists he will return to the Los Angeles Galaxy for the start of the next MLS season.

“Although nothing is confirmed at present, we can confirm that talks are taking place with Milan with regard to a short-term loan move at the start of next year,” read a short statement on the midfielder’s official website www.davidbeckham.com.

“David very much remains a Galaxy player, and he will be in Los Angeles for the start of the 2009 MLS season.”

Beckham, 33, has won 107 England caps and is determined to maintain his fitness in order to stay in the plans of national team coach Fabio Capello.

It is anticipated he will join Milan at the start of January.
