Trainer Nicky Richards and amateur rider Rose Davidson have appealed to the British Horseracing Authority against the findings of the Carlisle Stewards to punish them over the running and riding of New Lodge on Sunday.
Davidson was banned for seven days on dates to be notified, Richards was fined £2,000 and the horse suspended from running for 40 days (November 21 to December 30).
The stewards made their decision following an inquiry into the Book Your Conference Here Novices’ Hurdle.
New Lodge, a 25-1 chance, finished 11th of the 15 finishers behind Montana Slim beaten over 38 lengths.
No date has been set yet for the appeal.
