The construction industry is facing the prospect of severe disruption over the coming weeks as members of the Building and Allied Trade Union embark on industrial action.

Unofficial pickets will be placed on a number of construction sites in the Dublin area as BATU members seek massive pay increases.

The Construction Industry Federation said it is advising all workers that they may be put on protective notice and insisted unofficial action only puts everybody's future at risk.
