An Australian man won the lottery because he broke his leg and had to go to hospital.

The lucky winner landed a share of A$3 million (around £1 million) after choosing the winning ticket numbers from his hospital identification bracelet.

The unnamed man from Melbourne scooped the prize with two others in New South Wales and Queensland.

"With all that has been happening over the last week or so, I have been in a bit of a daze, like everything has been a dream," said the man, who is in his 50s, reports Melbourne's MX newspaper.
