Relief for Taylor
Birmingham central defender Martin Taylor should be back in action in just over a week’s time after a scan on his damaged leg revealed no serious damage.
Taylor caught his studs in the St Andrew’s turf in the closing stages of the 2-0 triumph over Torquay United in Tuesday’s FA Cup third round replay.
There were initial fears that he could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines but the former Blackburn player should be available for the fourth round tie at Reading on January 28.
Taylor’s return for that game will be timely as Matthew Upson will be ruled out through suspension after collecting his fifth booking of the campaign against Torquay.
Blues manager Steve Bruce said: “Martin has had his scans and fortunately they showed no serious damage which is a welcome relief.”
Meanwhile, defender Jamie Clapham has resumed training after suffering strained knee ligaments during last month’s home encounter with Manchester United.
