Dundee 2-1 Hibernian

Dundee boss Ivano Bonetti saluted his defence after watching them hold out for a 2-1 win over Hibernian at Dens Park.

Fabian Caballero fired Dundee into a 62nd-minute lead three minutes after Hibs' John O'Neil had cancelled out a Juan Sara first-half opener.

Dundee could not conjure up a third goal to give them some breathing space and relieve the tension for Bonetti.

"I was concerned as time went on just in case they equalised because we have to stop losing goals in the last minute," said Bonetti.

"But our defenders, especially Zura Khizanashvili and Walter Del Rio, played very well. They're very young as a centre back pairing but when we put them together in pre-season because we thought they could be a good partnership.

"The three points today were very important because it was against a very good team and this is a mentality we have to build up over the season.

"It was important in our first game at Dens to prove we can be mentally stronger than we were last year. Hibs didn't create very many chances while we scored two good goals."
