Customs officers have seized a major oil laundering plant near the border this morning, which was costing the exchequer millions of euro per annum.

Customs officers have seized a major oil laundering plant near the border this morning, which was costing the exchequer millions of euro per annum.

Four trucks loaded with oil were found in the raid, which took place at Kilcurry, just outside Dundalk.

No arrests were made.

The plant, which is one of the biggest-ever discovered by customs, consisted of three overground and one huge underground tank with a total capacity of hundreds of thousands of litres.
