England midfielder Frank Lampard revealed no ill-effects after making his return from a thigh injury in Chelsea’s 1-0 win at Bolton yesterday.

Lampard missed six weeks of the season with the problem but managed to get through the whole match at the Reebok Stadium, boosting his hopes of an England recall for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia on Saturday and the following Wednesday.

Lampard told Match of the Day: “I was very pleased to get 90 minutes.

“I have only done a couple of real days’ training with the lads.

“My main fear was (a) the injury, which I came through very well and (b) my fitness levels.

“I completed 90 minutes, I was tired at the end. It was very pleasing for me to do that.

“Now I can have a nice day off on Monday, get more fitness during the week and be ready for England.”
