Childline gets over thousand Christmas Day calls

Childline recieved almost 1,400 calls and texts from Children around Ireland yesterday.

Childline recieved almost 1,400 calls and texts from Children around Ireland yesterday.

The Charity, which provides a phone service for Children with any issues, said this was a 38% increase on last year.

Up to 85 volunteers manned the phones yesterday to deal with the volume of calls.

Childline spokesperson Margie Roe said many young people did not have a Happy Christmas due to family problems.
