£11m heroin haul seized in Turkey

Narcotics police in Istanbul have seized 323kg of heroin from a minibus and an Istanbul apartment bound for Europe.

Narcotics police in Istanbul have seized 323kg of heroin from a minibus and an Istanbul apartment bound for Europe.

The heroin, worth an estimated street value of £11m in Europe, is believed to have originated from Iran and Afghanistan.

Turkey is a major transit point for drugs smuggled from the Middle East and Asia to Europe and North America.
