The draw for the first round of the eircom League Cup has thrown up a number of interesting ties.

With the competition returning to a straight knock out format after a three year experiment as a League competition in the early stages, a number of clubs have received byes including Cork City, Bohemiams, Drogheda United, Longford Town and Shelbourne.

But there will still be plenty of action with the biggest ties looking like being the clash of Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps in the North West and Limerick and Waterford United in Munster.
