Five held in Co Armagh arms find

Security operations are continuing in Armagh after five men were arrested last night and two hand guns found.

Security operations are continuing in Armagh after five men were arrested last night and two hand guns found.

The RUC detained the men after they were seen acting suspiciously in the nationalist Friary Rd area of the city.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested near Newry, Co Down following a high-speed car chase along the main Dublin to Belfast road.

A van crashed into an RUC vehicle during the chase and 10,000 litres of petrol were found in a tank inside the van.

Five officers were injured during the operation. The driver was arrested for motoring offences.
